Most electric vehicle (EV) charging happens at home, and with battery packs getting bigger and vehicles traveling farther, many drivers are looking to add Level 2 charging where they live. At the same time, as EVs grow in popularity, more electricians may be interested in offering charger installation as a service. However, for both parties, it can be intimidating to navigate the process and know what considerations to keep in mind.
Earlier this year, we reached out to our network to ask EV drivers to share their experience with residential charger installations, gathering feedback on costs, contractor expertise, required panel/service upgrades, etc. Using those lessons learned, we created two resources — one for homeowners and one for electricians — to simplify the steps involved and the questions to ask. Happy charging!
